Microsoft Office 2010 support in Xml2PDF Server 2009

Microsoft Office 2010 support in Xml2PDF

Right after Microsoft Corporation announced the release of its Office 2010, we started working on developing our formatting Xml2PDF engine aiming to meet new demands of our customers. We have achieved this task and now support all of the new Office 2010 features.

Concerning the new Word 2010 functionality, Altsoft Xml2PDF fully converts Word 2010 documents to PDF and XPS. All creative text characters, styled letters, outlined and filled will be reflected correctly.

Relative to Excel 2010 almost nothing has changed due to Excel’s statistical nature. Excel 2010 has expanded with visual elements for better data representation. Numerical data embodied with graphed trends will be converted by Xml2PDF to PDF as easy and effective as it did previously.

PowerPoint 2010 has become more enriched with visualization tools that influence the way presentations are shown. Concerning print-ready versions of PP presentations everything is the same, except for a wide range of designers effects. With Altsoft Xml2PDF you will get an attractive PDF document as an output.

As you can notice Microsoft improved its Office 2010 mostly with visual designers tools and effects. We have successfully redesigned all of these features and are able to convert them to PDF and XPS with the highest quality.

Word to PDF conversion

-Why do so many companies create and store their documents in Microsoft Word format? -It's obvious. It's very convenient. MS Word is one of the most available text document editors in the world. This is why, companies choose MS Word. It allows creating documents with different styles, fonts, embedded images and diagrams. MS Word is developing very fast and today you can even sign your documents created in Word with a digital signature and set a password to open and modify documents. But what if you create documents using new MS Office, and your business partner still uses its old version? Then it will be impossible for a partner to open documents created by you, and they may contain important information such as agreements, products and prices, etc. Therefor Word documents are converted to PDF. PDF is a software and hardware-independent format that means that it is shown on every computer the same way. You can be sure that a business partner receives all the information as it was intended. Moreover PDF documents have stronger protection in comparison to Word. The following options can be specified: 'Can Print', 'Can Modify', 'Can extract', etc. It is also possible to plot watermarks and add digital signatures to documents.

PDF is a standard format for electronic documents and that is why we recommend converting Word documents to PDF. PDF makes document interchanging safer. One more advantage is that PDF document are suitable for long-term storage. Summing up all the above's advantages it's not surprising that PDF documents can be found everywhere - manufacturing, medicine, publishing, IT, education, etc. Our advice - convert your Word documents to PDF!

Word to PDF

First of all, could you please answer the question: "In what format do you or your company store business documents?" We are sure that in most cases the answer will be MS Word. No wonder that most of the time companies choose Word to create and store documents. It is the most convenient and available tool for text documents. Using MS Word it is easy to create any document and apply to it different fonts, styles, layout options, etc. Now MS Word allows even to protect documents with digital signatures and passwords. You don't need to possess special knowledge to be able to create documents in Word.

We live in a rapidly changing world and electronic data and information is of extremely large value. Unfortunately MS Word doesn't provide documents with proper protection and security. Thus it is needed to find another format that will be able to protect electronic documents to the best advantage. The Adobe PDF seems to be the best choice.

We recommend converting Word to PDF because PDF is a standard for electronic documents. PDF is print-ready format that allows setting security options to documents thus making them impossible to modify or even to print. PDF documents came solidly into our life, you can find them everywhere. PDF documents are used when creating letters, reports, business documents such as billing accounts, invoices, contracts, etc. PDF are widely used due to its device- and software- independent nature. PDF documents in contrast to those in Word are always shown the same way and are identical to original documents. One more PDF advantage is that it is suitable for long-term storage.

Summing everything up it can be said that Word to PDF conversion provides a user with high protection from copying, allows adding watermarks, electronic digital signature and using other security instruments. Word documents converted to PDF will have smaller size and thus will be exchanged quicker. So if you are going to manage document interchange effectively, be sure that your data won't be lost or damaged it is recommended and reasonable to convert Word documents to PDF.

Altsoft Word to PDF

Altsoft Xml2PDF 2009 formatting engine is one of the best solutions for converting Word documents to PDF. Xml2PDF 2009 in contrast to its previous versions and many other present products supports almost all Microsoft Word 2003 and Word 2007 features. Xml2PDF 2009 can be used manually as a desktop tool (Xml2PDF Workstation) and can be embedded to one's own .Net solution (Xml2PDF Server) for creation PDF, XPS, TIFF, and SVG documents from any Word file (Doc, DocX, WordML). Microsoft Word is the most popular and easy tool for document creation. Thus most office and technical documents are created in accessible Word formats. If a company chooses managing paper document workflow it suits good. But today electronic documents are spread. Therefore it is recommended to convert Word document to PDF. PDF is a standard format for electronic documents. It is hardware- and software-independent. PDF provides security and can be protected with password. PDF suits good for long-term storage and as well allows protecting files with electronic digital signature, Summing up it can be said that Word to PDF conversion has obvious advantages and Altsoft Xml2PDF is the most suitable application for these purposes.

Free XSL-FO debugger from Altsoft

XSL-FO Debugger version 0.9 beta
December 16, 2004
Altsoft NV

Altsoft team wishes XSL-FO community Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We are proud to announce our new freeware product XSL-FO Debugger as a gift for you.

Sometimes it is not so easy to answer many tricky questions that arise when you create a document with complex structure and thousands of objects. Why are these nested blocks not present on where they should be? What happened to that line? Where on earth is the header? Is it my error or I should send a letter to the producer of my formatter? XSL-FO Debugger helps you to avoid spending precious time on re-calculating object parameters, re-reading specification and revising your code. It introduces the visual representation of all basic document areas, baseline tables and breaks generated by the formatter so that you can find irritating shortcomings as fast as possible.

XSL-FO Debugger is distributed under a free license.

Your comments, ideas and feedback are very important to us. We appreciate and honor all suggestions. Our goal is to make this product useful for you and your ideas. Feature requests are the best way to build the most suitable solution for XSL-FO designers. Please, write us your ideas to support@alt-soft.com

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Best Wishes and Regards,
Altsoft NV
