Font Glyphs


Viewing font glyphs.

When the table of font glyphs is opened (double click on the corresponding font subnode) all font glyphs are rasterized in the glyphs table:



You can change the look of glyphs table in the following ways:

  • Modify glyph cell title. Choose "Title" from the context menu of glyphs' table page list:



    The title of the glyph's cell in the glyphs table can be equal to:
    • Glyph index
    • Character name
    • Glyph width
    • Character code in any encoding table (TrueType and OpenType fonts only)
    • Charstring ID (CFF fonts only)
  • Modify glyph order. Choose "Sort..." from the context menu of glyphs' table page list:



    Glyphs can be sorted by:
    • Glyph index
    • Character name
    • Glyph width
    • Character code in any encoding table (TrueType and OpenType fonts only)
    • Charstring ID (CFF fonts only)
NOTE: You can see all glyph properties mentioned above in the Properties window.


Copying, pasting and erasing glyphs

You can perform clipboard operations to glyphs: cut, copy and paste. The remarkable feature of Altsoft Font Type Master is that glyphs of any current font can be easily copied to the font of any other format except Multiple Master.

To move, copy or paste selected glyphs of a font you may choose the appropriate action from the context menu of glyphs' table page:



or apply standard combination of keys: Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V.

To delete a certain glyph use the context menu or Del key.


Inserting, appending and adding glyphs

If you copied certain glyph and it is still in clipboard you may also insert it after current glyph or append it to the whole glyph set. Use "Insert" and "Append" actions from the context menu of glyphs' table page:



To append new empty glyph to the font glyph set or insert it after current choose "New glyph...->Append" or "New glyph...->Insert" from main or context menu:


Opening glyphs in the editor

Sometimes it is necessary to conduct more precise changing of a glyph. Altsoft Font Type Master uses flexible and convenient "Glyph Editor" giving you direct access to the glyph outline. To open "Glyph Editor" double click on the glyph to be edited or choose "Open" from the context menu. You may also use main toolbar button.
