Font Names


Viewing font names

When font names are opened (double click on the corresponding font subnode) you see the table of font names for TrueType or OpenType fonts:



or the tree view for any other font formats:



Font names (i.e. strings with auxiliary information) contain the following information:

  • For TrueType and OpenType fonts:
    • Copyright
    • Font Family
    • Font Subfamily
    • Unique ID
    • Full Name of the font
    • Version
    • PostScript name of the font
    • Trademark notice
    • Manufacturer
    • Designer
    • Description
    • URL of the font vendor
    • URL of the font designer
    • License description
    • License URL
    • Reserved
    • Preferred Family
    • Preferred Subfamily
    • Compatible Full
  • For Type 1, Type 2, Type 42, Multiple Master and CID-keyed fonts:
    • Copyright
    • Font Family
    • Font Subfamily
    • Unique ID
    • Full Name of the font
    • Version
NOTE: Note that TrueType and OpenType fonts can have different font names for different combination of platform, language and specific encoding IDs (that is, PID, LID and SID in the table of names).


Editing font names

Font name values can be set in the edit box at the bottom area of the program window.
For TrueType and OpenType fonts a combination of PID, LID and SID can be also set for any given name. To apply changes for TrueType or OpenType fonts press "Apply" button or choose "Apply Name Changes" from the context menu or use the toolbar:



To update modified names for any other font choose "Update Name" from the context menu:




Adding and deleting names

Names can be added and deleted for TrueType and OpenType fonts only. You may add a new name with specified PID, LID, SID and name index which defines the type of the new name string. To perform these actions press the corresponding buttons in the toolbar or choose the appropriate item from the context menu:
