Configuration Window

Configuration window can be opened using menu command: "Edit->Formatter configuration":



or (Formatter Configuration) toolbar button.

Configuration window is a tool for setting various options of PDF file generation. Formatting options are organized in six groups of properties:


General font properties:




which include following variables:
  • Default font family
  • Default font size


Font selection properties:




which include following variables:
  • Flag specifying whether only 14 PDF standard fonts should be used
  • Flag specifying whether all fonts apart from PDF standard fonts should be embedded
  • Flag specifying whether embedded fonts should be subsetted
  • Flag specifying whether font charset should be analyzed or not (necessary for the widest range of symbols to be represented)


Inline properties:




which include following variables:
  • Default values for the inline border widths
  • Margin size when it is specified as "auto"
  • Flag specifying whether inline border is taken into account when the outer block object border is generated


Block properties:




which include following variables:
  • Default values for the inline border widths
  • Margin size when it is specified as "auto"


Hyphenation properties:




which include following variables:
  • Default language
  • Default country
  • Path to document resource directory
  • Flag specifying whether words with delimiters are to be hyphened


Page properties:




which include following variables:
  • Default page width and height
  • Default values for page crop box dimensions


Managing Configuration Files

To save the configuration file with the specified set of options choose "Save Config As..." from the "File" menu. After it a "Save Configuration File" dialog window appears:

Choose name and location for your configuration file and press "Save" to save it.


To open the specified configuration file choose "Open Config..." from the "File" menu. After it a "Open Configuration File" dialog window appears:

Choose configuration file to be openeded and press "Save" to open it.


To create the new configuration file with the specified set of options choose "Create New Config..." from the "File" menu. After it a "Save Configuration File" dialog window appears:

To save, open or create new configuration files you may also apply hot keys: Ctrl+N   to create new config, Ctrl+S  to save existing config, Ctrl+O  to open existing config.


Configuration File Description

As configuration file structure follows XML syntactic rules you may create and edit them manually. The description of configuration tags and DTD are presented in the following section.
